In Celebration of

John Fitzgerald Howarth

December 7, 1963 -  August 17, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Howarth, who passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, August 17th, 2024, at Juravinski Hospital in his 61st year. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 29 years, Nancy Ferri, his children Lucas, Cristina, and Rianna. Devoted son of Margaret and the late Robert Howarth. Cherished by his siblings Ellyn (Rod Lennox), Tom (Nancy), Kathleen (Bruce Hale), Patti (Mike Costigan) and David (Terri). John will be deeply missed by his, father-in-law Dino Ferri, mother-in-law Alesiana and brother-in-law Mario. Also missed by his many nieces, nephews, family, friends, coworkers and his dog Ollie.

John was known for his kind heart and quick wit sense of humour. He cherished time spent with family and friends, whether it was playfully cheating in a card game, enjoying a sweet ice cream treat, or just sharing stories over Sunday night dinner. He also loved spending his time playing golf, swimming, and tending to his beautiful backyard garden. At his children’s sporting events, he was always the loudest supporter, proudly cheering them on as their biggest fan. His warm presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Juravinski Hospital in Hamilton for their care and compassion.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Bay Gardens Funeral Home, 947 Rymal Road East, Hamilton. A Visitation will be held on Thursday August 22nd from 2-4pm and 6-9pm at Bay Gardens. A Service will take place on Friday August 23rd beginning at 11:00am at Annunciation of Our Lord, 280 Limeridge Rd W, Hamilton with cremation to follow. If desired, the family would sincerely appreciate memorial contributions to the Juravinski Cancer Centre.

Dad, deep in our hearts you’ll always stay, loved and missed every day.

John ‘Howie’ howarth was an unbelievable friend to all of us from the old neighborhood… the group of us at least 30 guys and girls probably more had the absolute best time of our lives , we would b together all the time wether it would b at one of the houses, playing sports or whatever just hanging out at Buchanan park , smoking our brains out at the infamous’hole in the fence ‘ going bowling, partying big time at house parties, bush parties, the good ole ‘Arnold centre , Kelsey’s etc … we haven’t spoken or seen one another in a long time busy with our families etc but the good days getting up early in the summers meeting up with everyone on our bikes and not come home until the ‘street lights ‘ came on …all this years made up for the time lost ! Howie u will b missed by all your buddy’s!!! Praying for your beautiful family who I had the chance to meet within the last few days … love u brother !!!

John, I'm so glad to have met you on this journey in life. You taught me so much—lessons I will carry with me always. From your humor that lightened even the toughest days, to your wisdom in keeping life in perspective when things seemed to spin out of control. And above all, the honest conversations we shared over the years will forever resonate with me. I will miss hearing your voice as I walk the halls at work, a voice that brought clarity, and laughter. You made a lasting impact on my life, and I will forever remember you fondly and miss you dearly. Rest in peace, my friend.
