In Celebration of

John Spehar

January 31, 1972 -  January 3, 2023

It is with great sadness that the family of John Spehar announces his sudden passing on Tuesday, January 3rd, 2023, at the age of 50.

John will lovingly be remembered by his wife of 20 years, Nicole; children, Allegra, Johnny, and Georgie; Mother Dragica Spehar; the late Father Ivan Spehar, Sister Mirjana Spehar; Son-in-law to Patricia and Ron Dawson; Brother-in-law to Michelle (Jim), Paula (Dan), Judy (Tyler) and numerous nieces and nephews: Brigita, Tomas, Jacob, Samantha, Mathew, Harry, Xander and Joseph. Lovingly remembered by Aunt Milka Baburic and family. He will be missed by many other family members and friends in Australia and Croatia.

Family was everything to John and he spent all his time with his kids, watching soccer with them, skiing, ice skating and riding their bikes together. He loved his family and never let a day go by without telling them how much they meant to him.

John will be remembered for his great sense of humour and devotion to his friendships, many of which spanned more than 35 years.

John was the Manager of Test and Validation Engineering at Collins Aerospace and will be sadly missed by all of his colleagues. John loved his work and was always smiling and happy to be part of the test lab team.

John was taken too soon from us, and we miss him dearly.

A visitation will be held at Bay Gardens Funeral Home, 947 Rymal Road East, Hamilton, on Tuesday January 10th from 5 p.m. till 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Bay Gardens Funeral Home, on Wednesday January 11th at 11 a.m. with a burial to follow at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Cemetery, 681 Mud St E, Stoney Creek. Nicole and the kids encourage everyone to attend.

I met wonderful little John many years ago. I worked with his mom donna at the hospital and would occasionally bump into him and big sister. Kept in touch through social media over the years and watch him become a loving poppa. We would swap tech talks . Sending my love and prayers to his family

Our children have been in Georgie’s class on and off for years. We never saw John without a smile on his face and a warm greeting. Recently, our son Ace, had taken a liking to Georgie and boy did that ever get quite a few laughs from John. We are thinking of the Spehar family. Sending our prayers and love. We will miss his kindness and positive attitude.

I have had the privilege of knowing John for the 17 years that he worked at Collins, he was the solid foundation of the test lab , mentor to most of the junior engineers (and some of the seniors including me) he will be missed and our thoughts are with the family at this time. I know the whole Collins family is in shock at this loss.

John was a bright light and was taken too soon. He brought so much joy to everyone who knew him. RIP John. My deepest condolences to Nikki and his children.
