Our family announces the peaceful passing away of Joyce on Friday, March 20, 2026 at The Village of Wentworth Heights at the age of 101 years. Joyce was the heart of our family; a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. As a young child, she followed her older siblings to Canada with her mother from England. She grew into a bright young woman, met the love of her life, Bruce, and began to raise a family of her own. She taught her family the importance of being fair to everyone, how to work hard, and above all to be honest. Joyce was talented with numbers, enjoyed her job at Greyline and was an active member within the United Church, most notably a St. John Charter Member. Joyce loved to play Bridge with her friends in Cornwall and Hamilton, spent many relaxing vacations on cruise ships, she was a great cook; especially her Chocolate Pecan Pie, loved to swim in her pool on summer mornings, and adored all animals; her dogs were her happiness. Joyce’s great love created memories that her children will keep in their hearts forever, she brought magic to her grandchildren’s lives, and was the kind of woman who put everyone ahead of herself. She loved her friends and family fiercely, sharing her wisdom and warmth with them and her impact on all of our lives was remarkable.
Joyce’s fondness for chocolate, generous heart and passion for life will be forever cherished by her daughter Sandra (the Late Ron), son Jim (Sylvia), by her grandchildren Lisa (Rob), Erin, Nikki (Lee), and JJ (Carolyn), Sarah (Paul), and Shawn (Tina), by her 10 great grandchildren, and by many more extended family and dear friends. Joyce is reunited in heaven with her beloved husband Bruce and loving son Raymond.
Our family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff and caregivers at the Village of Wentworth Heights for their ongoing support and compassion.
As per Joyce’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private interment ceremony will take place at Bayview Cemetery and Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, you may consider making a donation in Joyce’s memory to the Hamilton Burlington SPCA. Kindly take a moment to visit www.baygardens.ca to leave a kind word or favourite memory on her virtual guestbook.
“Mom, you may be gone from my sight, but you are never gone from my heart. They say we do not remember the days, we remember the moments. We are glad we have so many to remember. Rest now, Joyce, surrounded by the love of all those you have touched.”
