In Celebration of
Kenneth Battell
November 13, 1944 -
June 7, 2024
With heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Kenneth Ronald Battell at the Juranvinski Hospital in Hamilton on June 7, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born in London, England, and living in Hamilton for many decades, Ken was a pioneer of denturism in Ontario. He dedicated over 40 years to providing denture care for the Hamilton community at his office, Battell Denture Clinic, on Concession Street.
Born to Albert (predeceased) and Peggy Battell (nee Hibbard, predeceased), he is survived by his cherished wife Senga, who has been his everything for 56 years, his adoring children of whom he was very proud: Lorrie (Colin), Shawn (Anne), Debbie (Patrick), Michael (Neal); his beloved grandchildren Conner, Jordan, Kate, Riley and Reese; tightknit brothers John (June) and Terry (Diana); sister Linda (Dan); brother-in-law Bill( Ruth, predeceased), and reunited with sister Lorraine (predeceased).
Family meant everything to Ken, and he was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He thought the world of his brothers John and Terry, and always looked forward to their Saturday morning breakfasts. Ken was known for his wry sense of humour, meandering stories, refereeing, and soccer coaching. He will be warmly remembered by dear colleagues and lifelong pals in the denture community, many nieces and nephews, innumerable friends, scores of previous patients, and his doting dog, Skarlette.
Ken was a leader in denturism and was honoured to serve as a Director and President of the Denturist Association of Ontario, and a Council member of the College of Denturists of Ontario for many years. He inspired many aspiring denturists, including his sons Shawn and Michael, his daughter-in-law Anne, and his granddaughter Kate, who have followed in his footsteps. After retiring from denturism, Ken spent time with his family. He was a voracious reader and an enthusiastic soccer fan.
Many thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Juravinski Hospital for the outstanding care they gave Ken. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation would be appreciated.
There will be a Visitation on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at 12noon, followed by the service at 1pm and Reception at Bay Gardens Funeral Home, 947 Rymal Rd. East, Hamilton, Ontario. 905-574-0405, www.baygardens.ca
