In Celebration of

Mark Bono

March 9, 1979 -  March 21, 2024

It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Mark Bono on March 21st in his 46th year, with family by his side. Mark was a loving and dedicated husband to Ashley, a proud and devoted father (“Dada”) to Cassa and Miles and a cherished son to Paula and Joe Bono. He leaves behind siblings Carlo, Joanne, Lisa, and Nima and will be remembered fondly as an adoring, fun and adventurous uncle to Laney, Mason, Jack, Joseph, Max, Benson, Wyatt, and Drew. Special friend to Eugene and Traci and the whole Mazzuca Family. He was also a beloved son-in-law to Wendy and Frank and a dear brother-in-law to Alanna, Brittany, and Tessa. Mark will be deeply missed by his extended family and friends in both England and the U.S.

Mark was a proud alumnus of Robert Morris University (04’), where he forged lifelong friendships during his five seasons with the Robert Morris Colonials soccer team, and where he met the love of his life, Ashley. For 13 years, Mark has served as a National Account Manager at Haleon, where he was known for his unwavering dedication and hard work.

An influential figure in the soccer community, Mark’s love for the game extended to coaching the U14 Hamilton United Elite OPDL Girls team, a role that brought him immense joy and pride. To know Mark was to love him. Mark was the fun one, the instigator and always ready with a joke. Mark was musically talented, and a self-taught guitarist who could play any tune by ear. Mark was simply the best.

To honour Mark’s memory, a visitation will be held on Tuesday March 26th from 2-4 and 6-8, and also Wednesday March 27th at 12 noon with a Memorial Service to follow at 1 pm. Bay Gardens Funeral Home, 947 Rymal Road East Hamilton. Attendees are encouraged to wear red as a tribute to Mark’s beloved Liverpool FC, echoing the sentiment: “You’ll Never Walk Alone”.

So sad and heartbreaking to hear of this loss. Mark coached my daughters soccer team last year and they created such a nice bond that will never be forgotten. My heart goes to his wife and children, may God give them the strength to get through this difficult time. ❤️
