Obituary

It’s with broken hearts and immense sadness that our family announces the passing of Mark, our husband, father, son, brother and friend at the age of 45. Surrounded by love, Mark passed peacefully on Saturday, November 30th, 2019 after a hard fought and valiant battle, with his wife, beautiful children and family by his side.

Forever remembered by his partner in crime, wife and best friend, Tina (Mota). Mark was the greatest father and will always be a strong role model to his children, Matteo and Caleigh. Adored and treasured son to John and Anne (Barroso). He was the eldest sibling and big brother to Sarah (Brian Barry) and Philip.

Cherished son-in-law to Joe and Teresa Mota. Fondly remembered by his sisters-in-law Priscilla and Melissa (Joe Grieci). He was the greatest uncle to Arianna, Tristan and Jackson.

A friend of many, Mark will also be remembered by his many aunts, uncles, cousins, colleagues and extended family and friends. His passion for cars, the Toronto Maple Leaf’s and the Buffalo Bills lives on.

A role model for all, Mark faced his battle head on. His determination often meant he put his family ahead of his battle – a true testament to his strength and willpower. A spokesperson for his illness and fight, Mark’s encouraging words and wisdom stand to encourage others to fight hard and press ahead despite the challenge.

Family and friends will be received at Bay Gardens Funeral Home - "William J. Markey Chapel", 947 Rymal Road East, HAMILTON (905.574.0405) on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm and from 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm. Vigil Prayers in honour of Mark will be offered at 3:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church, 304 Highway 8, Stoney Creek on Thursday, December 5, 2019 at 12:00 pm. Burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, Burlington.

Our family wishes to thank the caring professionals at the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice for their attentive and compassionate care.

For those who wish, memorial donations in honour of Mark may be made to the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice.

We Ecco what has been said about Mark in his memorial! He was certainly an awesome person with excellent qualities. He was not only compassionate, loving, friendly but no matter how he was feeling he always offered that beautiful smile! We will miss our chats around mom’s kitchen table, our family barbecues and celebrations which we will always cherish. You have been called to heaven to accompany our loved ones but you will always remain in our hearts. We love you Marcus! Our condolences to the entire family! Love you all!
