It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Moe Marentette, in his forty-first year.
He worked as an electrician at ArcelorMittal Dofasco for thirteen years.
Born in Grimsby, he grew up in Stoney Creek. It was where he met and married the love of his life, Candace Marentette née Van Bergen. Together, they were busy raising two amazing sons, Jaxon and Wyatt. Regrettably, he leaves them all behind, along with several rescue pets.
Predeceased by his father, Guy G. Marentette, in 1986, and his Grandpa D, in 2007.
Moe leaves behind his mother, Evelyn Marentette née How, his sister, Brie Marentette (Bob), his nephew, Henri, his father-in-law, Eugene (Berg) Van Bergen, and his mother-in-law, Joanne Van Bergen née Doucette. He will be missed by several grandmas, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends too numerous to count.
Moe will ever be remembered as an incredible husband, father, son, brother, and friend. He was a man who gave more than he took, all with a ready smile.
Whether on the ice, a diamond, or a soccer field, Moe encouraged those he coached to give their best. Behind the scenes, he bestowed the gift of sportsmanship and fair play.
Moe's interests included golf, hockey, and restoring cars. His love of helping family and friends will live on.
With a heart as wide as his grin, Moe lived his life to the fullest. His absence has left a huge void in a world notably quieter and less vibrant.
