It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Palmina Harbuzynskyj, who leftus unexpectedly but peacefully on November 23, 2025, at Juravinski Hospital with family at her side. She was in her 95th year, a long life marked by quiet strength,
resilience, and grace.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Toni Iacobucci (Dino); her granddaughter, Sabrina lacobucci-Mazajlo (Jerry) and her great-grandchildren, Alex and Aria, whoselaughter and impish antics brightened her later years. She is predeceased by her loving and caring husband Walter, her parents Giovanni and Carolina, her three brothers and survived by her devoted sisters, Maria Ricci (Victorio) and Lucia Di Lisio (Bambino), along with many beloved nieces and nephews in the US.
Palmina left Pacentro, Abruzzo, Italy, to immigrate to Hamilton, Ontario, Canada in the 1952, carrying little more than courage, hope, and determination to build a new life. Though her early years in Canada brought challenges, she faced each one with resolve. A woman ahead of her time, she learned english, earned her driver's license, and carved out a place for herself in the working world.
Her career path saw her work within several various factories, where she eventually met her husband of 50 years Walter Harbuzynskyj, with whom she shared many years until his passing in August 2019.
Palmina will be remembered for her appreciation of beauty and the natural world. She delighted in the elegance of fashion, the rhythm of her sewing needle, the tender care of her flower garden (for which she won several trillium awards), and the wonders of nature, revealed in her beloved nature television series. Loved ones will fondly recall the lipstick and rosy blush she applied each morning, the beauty she coaxed from her flowerbeds, and the sparkle in her eyes as she recounted her favourite National
Geographic stories.
The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to all the competent staff and friends at Villa Italia, where she spent the past three years, and to the dedicated compassionate Orthopedic and ICU teams at Juravinski Hospital for their efforts and care during her final days.
Visitation will be at Bay Gardens Funeral Home, 947 Rymal Rd, Hamilton (905-574-0405) on Thursday, November 27th from 5 p.m. till 8 p.m. Private Funeral service at Bayview Cemetery & Mausoleum in Burlington.
