In Celebration of

Randolph Mazza

January 20, 1946 -  October 25, 2023

The Honourable Randolph J. Mazza

(Live stream link will be available On Thursday November 2nd at 10:45am at the top of this page)

Peacefully and at home on October 25, 2023, in his 78th year, Randy passed away with his beloved and caring wife Esmé by his side. Loving Dad to Lindsey and Joshua. Special son to deceased parents Evan and Florence Mazza, Brother to Murray (Jeanette, 2022), Theresa, Paul (Lynda), Angela (Rob) and Sheila (Edward). Brother-in-law to Cameron (2020), Dreena, Gay, Jim (2019), Anne and Jim. Uncle and great Uncle to several nieces and nephews. Randy had a full and wonderful life, accomplishing so many life altering pursuits and inspiring achievements.

He retired as a Superior Court of Ontario, Family Court Judge where he was admired and respected by so many. In his years as a lawyer, he dedicated his career to advocating for equality in both the public and private sector. He was an avid and gifted athlete, playing multiple sports (and winning), against doubting opponents. He was an actor with McMaster University Theatre Club and co-founded the Hamilton Lawyers’ Show, raising money for children’s charities with fellow lawyers and judges. Randy’s most rewarding facet of his life, was marrying Esmé, his wife of 38 years, the love of his life, and his two accomplished children, Lindsey and Joshua. He had a wide circle of friends and had the best sense of humour. He was a great dancer, an inspiring writer, a film fanatic, a lover of sweets and dogs, and truly a role model for so many during his life. His motto was “no label, no limits” and he lived his life that way. He will be truly missed but his legacy of perseverance, determination, maintaining a sense of humour and giving people a chance, will live on forever!

A Visitation will be held on Wednesday November 1st from 2pm-5pm and 6:30pm-9pm at Bay Gardens Funeral Home. A Service will take place on Thursday November 2nd beginning at 11am at Bay Gardens. Private cremation to follow services.

In Lieu of Flowers, donations to Foster Farm Animal Sanctuary (fosterfarmanimalsanctuary.ca) would be appreciated by the family.

Fly with the angels Dad….you were one of a kind!

Lindsey and family, I’m sorry to hear of Randy’s death. I remember meeting him and Esme through Lindsey and my sister, Martha. He was truly one of a kind, funny, and an excellent listener. Sending you all love and strength.
