Robert George Johnston

July 31, 1949 - April 23, 2023

Passed away suddenly on April 23, 2023 at the age of 73. Lovingly remembered by his wife Irene (Brown) of 50 years (October 2023), his children Ian and Paul (Danielle) and his granddaughter Reese. He will be missed by his sisters in law Mosina (John), Elizabeth (Andy), Barbara (the late Jim Brown), many nieces and nephews, Winter and Blondie and the Hamilton music community. Predeceased by his mother Nora, father Ken and sister Bev. Thank you to the CCU at the General Hospital for their compassionate care.

Visitation will be held on Monday May 1, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. at Bay Gardens Funeral Home, 947 Rymal Road East, Hamilton.

Burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery, 254 Garner Road West, Ancaster and returning to Bay Gardens for refreshments and light lunch following the burial.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

I'm crying and still in disbelief that my best friend has passed away. Bob was everything to me. He was a great shoulder to lean on. He made me laugh every time I was with him. Smart , funny ,witty , caring talented and compassionate. I know he loved his family very much. My heartfelt condolences to Irene , Ian , Paul and Danielle. RIP Bob

Dear Irene, Ian and Paul,

We were so sorry to hear of the passing of Bobby.

I was a bit too young to recall some of the visits when the "Hamilton relatives" would visit the Thornes in Sydney, but I certainly remember many of the stories my sisters told, they certainly loved Bobby for his humor and wonderful nature.

Bobby was truly a free spirit, gifted with musical talent that he shared willingly. I only wish we could hear just one more song, his legacy will last forever.

May God give you strength and peace at this time.
