Rose Mary Castellani (Balardo)
Aug 2 1926 to Aug 19 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, nonni. sister, aunt and friend, Rose Castellani, who left us peacefully on August 19, 2025 in Burlington, at the age of 99.
Rose lived a full and beautiful life devoted to her family. She was the heart of her home, and delighted in spoiling everyone around her with generosity, laughter, and love. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her greatest pride.
Whether it was, preparing one of her famous five-course dinners, hosting unforgettable family barbecues, she made every gathering brighter and every moment more special. Her joy came from seeing others happy—whether shopping for the perfect gift, or treating her sisters on a fabulous cruise vacation, sharing her sparkle and her fabulous smile.(both in spirit and in her love.) Her sense of humor kept everyone smiling, and she was never without a good joke to lighten the room.
Starting as a young girl, in her early teens, she worked at Leonard's Factory in Dundas, sewing ladies under garments. I can't even begin to tell you, all the pranks she pulled off while working on the assembly line. She made her job fun to work there, and everyone loved being around her. Many will also fondly remember her passion for bingo, her love of singing and dancing, and her time spent swimming or soaking in the Florida sun.
Faith played a central role in Rose's life—her strong devotion to her church, as well as being a 40+yr member of The Catholic Women's League of Canada. Sewing many an apron for the church Bazar, she gave to others with the same warmth and grace she received in her beliefs.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and generosity, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Rose is rejoining her husband Lou, her son Mark Castellani, her brothers and sisters, Jean (Marangoni) Jorgenson, Lena Mazza, Tony Balardo, and Jim Balardo. Rose will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Donna Castellani (Clarry), her Grandchildren, Angela Banakiewicz (Brian), Lana Fernley (Rob), Great Grandchildren, Erik, Alexis,Tyler and Ethan. As well as her youngest sister Theresa Travale, plus way too many nieces and nephews to mention. Family members and friends who were blessed by her generosity, kindness, humor, and unwavering love.
