In Celebration of

Rosella Elgar

December 28, 1946 -  January 11, 2025

Elgar, Rosella (nee Franceschini)
(December 28th, 1946 – January 11, 2025)
With heavy hearts we announce the unexpected passing of Rosella Vera Elgar (nee Franceschini) on January 11, 2025 at the start of her 78th year, surrounded by her family. Lovingly remembered by her husband of 42 years, Chris Elgar and her children Derek Wright, Jamie (Helen) Elgar and Bianca (Matthew) Luce. Adored RiRi to Felix and Maeve Luce. Loved ‘Nanny Rose’ to Lewis, Patrick & Niamh Elgar. Treasured sister of Rita (Ed) Fredson and sister-in-law to Tony and Dianne Elgar. Rosella will also be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Predeceased by her parents Steve and Anna Franceschini and brothers Michael (Hilda) and Ronald Franceschini.

Rosella was a person whose warmth and elegance left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her heart was as generous as it was caring. Whether offering a trusted ear to a friend in need or lighting up a room with her radiant spirit, Rosella was a source of comfort and strength to many. Her legacy of love, compassion and grace will continue to inspire those she leaves behind. She was a dedicated woman, who brought her best to everything she did. After retiring, she channeled her love of fashion into her work at Adele’s clothing, where she built a community and her warm, caring demeanor made her beloved by all who walked through the door.

Against all odds, she showed remarkable strength and resilience throughout her life, defying health challenges that many believed would limit her time. Her determination allowed her to witness the incredible joy and pride of watching her children and grandchildren grow and spending many priceless moments with her family.

There are no words that can fully express the gratitude we have for the excellent care that Rosella received at Joseph Brant Hospital. With special thanks to Dr. Khalifa and all the ICU nurses and RT’s for the compassion and kindness you showed her and our family. Your dedication to your patients is extraordinary and will not soon be forgotten.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Bay Gardens Funeral Home (1010 Botanical Drive, Burlington). A Visitation will be held on Monday January 20th from 1:30pm at Bay Gardens with a Funeral Service beginning at 2:30pm. A Celebration of Life & Reception at Burlington Golf and Country Club at 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Joseph Brant Hospital or Alzheimer Society of Canada would be greatly appreciated by the family.

Please take a moment to sign the online guestbook.

I am heartbroken to hear of Rosella’s passing. My deepest condolences to all. Regardless of how long it was that we had seen each other when we did it was as if there was no passage of time. She will always have a place in my heart. Farewell beautiful Rosella. Be at peace as we all grieve losing you.
