Lazich, Stana Stella (nee Cupovic)

It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our dearest Mother on August 07 in her 92nd year.

Lovingly remembered by her children Katy (Yelovich), Ted (Edith), Tom (Carol), grandchildren Stephanie, Max, Bryanna, Keenan, Kumovi Cathy and Roy Diklich, Nick & Linda Stankovich, Kumovi David Vukmanich, her nephew Dusko Cupovic & family, family in Beograd, Serbia, Croatia and especially her cousin Milica Bosnjakovic who travelled from Serbia to be with her during her last days.

Special thanks to Dr. Perry Mayer for his care and the kind PSW’s from CBI, Concepts of Care, and Home Instead, earth angels who provided so much love to our Mother.

Stella was hardworking (our very own Energizer Bunny), supportive and always ready with good advice for us to follow. Stella and our father Gilbert established their business, Gilbert’s Big & Tall Men’s Shop in Hamilton in 1954, a business that has provided 70 years of service and professionalism unparalleled in this day and age. Her devotion to her family and staff had her in her office into her 90’s. She loved travelling to sunnier climes, Cuba was one of her favourite destinations along with Florida and Serbia. Her crocheting skills had her making slippers for the babies of the many customers she encountered and to sell and collect donations for Sick Kids Hospital and McMaster Children’s Hospital. Unofficially she was our wonderful greeter at the store.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Bay Gardens Funeral Home, 1010 Botanical Drive, Burlington. Visitation will be held on Sunday August 11th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. The Funeral Service will be on Monday August 12th at 11am in St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church (153 Nash Road South in Hamilton), immediately following is the burial at Woodland Cemetery (740 Spring Gardens Road).
