In Celebration of

Tyler Moffat

June 17, 1998 -  August 9, 2023

Tyler Robert Moffat passed away August 9, 2023, at Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington, Ontario in his 25th year from cancer.

Tyler left this world the same way he entered, quickly and early. From the moment of his first breath to that of his last Tyler was surrounded by people who loved him. Tyler leaves behind his parents (Kate and Derrick), stepparents (Adam and Whitney), brothers (Connor and Jack), stepsisters (Kelli and Leah) and girlfriend (Marisa).

Tyler was a big human with a big capacity for love that he shared with his family and friends. His cousins and Aunts and Uncles held a special place in his heart.

Tyler Loved comic books and movies, anything pertaining to superheroes. From running around as a little guy disguised as Iron Man to being the first in line for Marvel movie tickets, Tyler’s biggest disappointment may be that he never had a chance to realize the superpower he was sure he would obtain.

Tyler recently developed a love for Formula One Racing and was anticipating a call from Team McLaren. He fantasized about fast cars, despite his dubious purchase of a Kia Soul. Tyler had an eye for photography and could sit still hours, waiting for the perfect shot of any wildlife creature.

Tyler loved playing sports, especially those where his stature was of benefit. His favourites included basketball, football, and lacrosse. He spent many, many hours participating in, coaching and complaining about athletics. Being close to completing his apprenticeship and becoming a millwright was a source of great pride for Tyler. He enjoyed (almost) all of his coworkers.

Tyler was an amazing human who will be deeply and painfully missed by many, for many different and equally wonderful reasons. He will live on because of the impact he had on those around him. We will miss him every day but will celebrate and love him too.

There aren’t words to express the gratitude from all of Tyler’s family to the staff of Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington, ON. Every individual who interacted with us, all of the teams working both in the background and at the bedside, please know that we saw you and took comfort from you all. <3

A memorial visitation will be held at Bay Gardens Funeral home (947 Rymal Road East, Hamilton) on Saturday August 19th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm.

In lieu of flowers or donations please hold your loved ones close, make amazing memories together, and remember Tyler and the light he brought to us all.
