In Celebration of

Walid Shamoon

July 1, 1951 -  February 5, 2023

Walid “Wally” Shamoon passed away on February 5th, 2023 at the age of 71 in Hamilton, Ontario, the city he called home for 44 years. His fearless battle with cancer did not affect his playful sense of humour, which entertained us until his last day. Lovingly remembered by his wife of 47 years, Souham Shamoon, and his children, Terry, Richard, Faith and Jenna. He has joined his daughter, Marianne, in peace.

From getting kicked out of his sons’ hockey games, to watching pre-recorded soap operas with his wife on the couch, Walid played many roles in the lives of those around him. Working at Dofasco as a younger man and then becoming a cabby later in life, Walid never did a job without giving 100% of his passion. He had the ability to create an inside joke wherever he went, even making just a regular walk in the mall a funny story to remember. He gave us millions of memories and moments to remember, cherish, and honour his memory. Nobody loved harder and more purely than you did, and we will remember your love and your laugh everyday, Bobba.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Bay Garden’s Funeral Home, 947 Rymal Road East, Hamilton. A Visitation will be held on Thursday February 9th from 2:00 pm-4:00 pm and from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm at Bay Gardens. A Service will take place on Friday February 10th beginning at 11:00 am at Bay Gardens. Burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 580 Old York Road, Burlington. Reception to follow the burial at The First Unitarian Church of Hamilton, 170 Dundurn Street South, Hamilton.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that you make a donation to St. Patrick's Parish in Hamilton, Ontario.
