It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of the matriarch of our family, Antonetta Gatto (known as Nina to many) on January 23rd, 2026. She is now reunited with the love of her life for almost 70 years, the late Carmen Gatto (2023), who she missed dearly. Loving mother of Anthony Gatto and Laura and Tom Giancani, and devoted and cherished grandma of Alissa and Josh Beraldo, and Jessica Giancani. She is predeceased by her parents, Quinto and Rose Centofanti and her sister, Nicky. Sister-in-law to the late Maria (Joe), Angelina (Antonio), Josephine (Peter) and Giovanni (Giulia). Her sense of humour and lively spirit will be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends near and far.

Everyone loved engaging in conversation with our mom, which almost always led to shared laughter. Antonetta had a true gift for music and was a beautiful pianist, and one of the few who knew how to play the accordion. She treasured every moment spent with her two granddaughters, who brought her immense joy and light. She could often be found cooking or baking in the kitchen, something she deeply loved. Our family will always remember her beautiful smile and the laughter that was shared together at family gatherings.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thank you to the staff on the 4th floor of Summit Heights Retirement Home, who compassionately cared for our mother over the past two years.

Visitation will be held at Bay Gardens Funeral Home, 947 Rymal Road East, Hamilton, on Tuesday, January 27th from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at Most Blessed Sacrament Parish, 305 E 37th St, Hamilton, on Wednesday, January 28th at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, 254 Garner Rd W, Ancaster.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local SPCA in honour of Antonetta’s love for animals.
