Cherished Mother and beloved Nonna, passed away peacefully on April 30 in Oakville at the age of 90. The heart of her home and a devoted mother, Cesira is lovingly remembered by her children Lucy (Alex) and Angelo (Amanda) and grandchildren Sophie, Camille, Fiona and Charlie - who were her pride and joy. She was predeceased by her loving husband Giovanni; her dear sister Maria (Luciano) and brother Leonardo (Faustina); and wonderful brothers and sisters-in-law Mario (Vicenza), Cesco (Christina), and Emelda (Mario).

Cesira was born on June 21, 1935 in Aprigliano Corte in Calabria, Italy. She came to Canada in search of a better life, where she had the good fortune to meet Giovanni Xamin and they built a beautiful life and family. She was known for her extraordinary gardening, a gift equalled only by her talent for transforming the fruits of that garden into endlessly delicious meals. Through her words and her actions, she embodied kindness, generosity, strength, and love.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses, and personal support workers at West Oak Long Term Care for the exceptional care and compassion they showed Cesira. They tended not only to her needs and wishes, but also embraced her family through every visit - whether marked by smiles or tears.

Arrangements to celebrate her long and wonderful life have been entrusted to Bay Gardens Funeral Home (1010 Botanical Drive, Burlington). A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 5th from 6:00-9:00 pm at Bay Gardens Funeral Home. A Mass will take place on Wednesday, May 6th at Regina Mundi Catholic Church beginning at 10 am at 631 Mohawk Road West, Hamilton followed by the Entombment at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Mausoleum, 600 Spring Gardens Road, Burlington.
