It is with great sadness that the family of Daniel “Jr.” Joseph Deptuck announce his sudden passing on Monday, February 9th, 2026, at the age of 64. Beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend, he will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know and love him.
Dan will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 36 years, Laurie; his children Tyler (Althea) and Emma (Jack); his grandchild Ellis; his parents Dominic and late mother Colleen; step-mother Phyllis; brothers David and Patrick; and numerous other family and friends. He was a proud and devoted dad and husband whose greatest joy was his family. Whether he was spending time golfing, travelling or with family and friends, he was always larger than life. If you knew him, you knew his booming voice and infectious laugh could fill any room he was in.
Born in Hamilton Ontario, Dan worked incredibly hard his entire life, dedicating 40 years to Dofasco Steel Mill. Even when he wasn't working, he was "never not working" he used to say. Whether it was projects around the house, helping family and neighbors clear snow from their driveways, or taking care of others, he always had a purpose.
Dan will be forever loved and deeply missed; his dedication, loyalty, strength and fierce love will continue to guide those he leaves behind. Though his passing was sudden, Dan's memory, laughter, and his unwavering love will remain with us always. He always put his family first in life, and we will honour him by carrying that same love forward.
A memorial visitation will be held at Bay Gardens Funeral Home, 947 Rymal Road East, on Monday, February 16th, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family welcomes donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
He is forever in our hearts and will never be forgotten, may he rest in eternal peace.
