In Celebration of
Gerald Norman Polmanter
November 17, 1945 - January 22, 2026
Gerald “Gerry” Polmanter - On January 22, 2026, with family by his side, Gerry passed peacefully to be with Marty, his loving wife of 42 years. Gerry will be affectionately remembered by his children, Ginelle (Blair), Renee and Jason and eight grandchildren, Alina, Kaelan, Micheal, Emma, Lainé, Noah, Charlotte and Will.
Gerry was fiercely proud to be a “north ender” where he put his heart and soul into the community. Gerry spearheaded many community groups and spent countless hours running events and programs in his neighborhood. For over 40 years, he chaired the North Central Community School, ran countless community dances, activities, barbeques and corn roasts. Gerry also coached baseball and football for many years and also volunteered with the Hamilton Santa Claus Parade and Hamilton Winterfest, leading these activities in the North Central area. He was recognized for his volunteer work, being awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship Award by Hamilton Rotary in 2009. Gerry was a long serving Elder at St David’s Presbyterian Church.
Throughout his years in Hamilton, Gerry was deeply invested in the well-being of those around him. He gave his time generously, whether through community involvement or the many everyday ways he supported neighbors, friends, family and local initiatives. He believed strongly in the value of community—of people looking out for one another—and he lived that belief consistently. His impact was not measured in grand gestures, but in many acts of kindness and caring that added up to something meaningful and lasting.
Gerry was a devoted employee of Dofasco for 37 years, where he met many life-long friends. He loved organizing and playing in his weekly Euchre club, playing poker and going to the casino. He was an avid fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Argos and Blue Jays.
Gerry will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father, a cherished Papa, and a man who made his corner of the world better. He was extremely proud of all of his children and grandkids and rarely missed a chance to see them play sports, perform in plays, attend school events or simply spend time with them. He was always there to cheer them on, give encouragement and support. His legacy lives on through his family, friends the community he helped strengthen, and the many lives he touched.

Gerry’s sense of humour, determination, love, pride for his family, friends and community, will be intensely missed by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, donations in remembrance of Gerry to the Dr Bob Kemp Hospice of Hamilton are greatly appreciated.
A celebration of his life and legacy will be held at a future date.
