It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gildo Della Maestra on March 26, 2026 in his 83rd year. Beloved husband of 54 years to Paula (Arena). Proud father to Marco (Joanne) and Denny (Lindsay). Loving Nonno to Logan, Bianca, Luke, Jackson and Felix. Dear brother and brother-in-law to Miranda Quattrin (Mario, pre deceased) of Italy, Lucia, Josie Eleftheriou (Mike), Harry Arena (Susan). Predeceased by brothers and sisters-in-laws Ladino, Nisio (Miranda) Bruno (Esther), Ettore (Silvana), Silvano (Irma). He will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews in Canada, Italy and the UK.

Gildo enjoyed 20 years of retirement after a successful career at Universal Handling. Gildo loved his summers in his beautiful vegetable garden, his weekends watching soccer and Formula One and especially spending quality time with all his grandchildren and fur grandchildren.

Special thank you to all the staff at Juravinski Hospital for making Gildo's final days extra comfortable.

Visitation at Bay Gardens Funeral Home, 947 Rymal Rd. E. on Tuesday, March 31 from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 9pm with prayers at 8:30pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Margaret Mary Parish, 20 Idlewood Ave., on Wednesday, April 1, at 11:30am. Entombment at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre would be appreciated.
