It is with deep and profound sadness that we announce the passing of John Kenneth Lawther, surrounded by his loving family on April 4th, 2025, at the age of 61. Ken was a devoted and loving husband to Tracy (nee Smith) for 39 years and cherished his role of loving and protective father to Sarah (Zach) and Jacqueline.

Ken and Tracy’s families will ensure that his grandchildren Avery, Nolan and Rory come to know him through videos and storytelling. Ken will be deeply missed by siblings Jim, Jo-Anne (Steve), Carolyn (Bob), Mary (Andy), and Tina (Randy) and many nieces and nephews. He was cherished his by mother-in-law Pat Smith and sister-in-law Marie (Mark). Ken is predeceased by his parents, James and Teresa Lawther (nee MacNeil).

An accomplished athlete in high school, Ken met the love of his life, Tracy, when he was only 16 years old. He loved her with every breath every day for the next 45 years. Their deep connection inspired others as they navigated the joys and sorrows, triumphs and tribulations of everyday life. Together they raised two amazing, strong young women who will carry his lessons and love forward.

Ken worked at Umicor Autocat in Burlington for over three decades and was a valued leader of the Automation Team. His work ethic, unique approach to problem solving and impactful leadership style left a mark on many over the years, and we know he will be missed by his many colleagues.

While we mourn his passing, we will remember his life as one well lived. Ken was a man of integrity, honesty, generosity and goodness. He valued strong relationships with family and friends and was in his happy place when barbequing for a big crowd in the backyard with a cold drink and a well-timed one-liner.

We will carry you in our hearts until we meet again on the beach one day Ken!
