It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Lucia Ionni who left us suddenly on November 29th, 2025, in her 87th year. Devoted wife of her predeceased husband Francesco Ionni. Loving mother to Edoardo Ionni (Carol Polizzi) and Kathy Ionni (Eric Salembier). Cherished Nonna to Isabella Ionni, Arianna Ionni and Ethan Salembier. Survived by Letizia Santini, Maria DiFrancesco and Giovanni Aniballi. Predeceased by two brothers Domenico Aniballi and Vincenzo Aniballi. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends in Canada, Italy and United States.

Lucia was born in Ascoli Piceno (Roccafluvione) and immigrated to Canada in 1960 and settled in Hamilton, ON. Lucia remained in the home she built with her husband and their family. Lucia loved to garden and could rescue any plant or flower and was a fantastic cook. Lucia ultimately did it her way, until the very end.

The family extends heartfelt appreciation to the ICU team at Hamilton General Hospital whose dedication and compassion they offered in her final hours.

Visitation will be held at Bay Gardens Funeral Home, 947 Rymal Road East, Hamilton, on Thursday December 4th, 2025 from 2:00pm-4:00pm and from 7:00pm-9:00pm. A Funeral mass will be held at Regina Mundi Parish, 631 Mohawk Road West, Hamilton, on Friday December 5th, 2025 at 10:00am. Entombment to follow at Our Lady of Victory Mausoleum, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
