It is with the deepest sorrow that we say goodbye to Maiwan Junior Moaku, an angel on earth that God called peacefully on December 28th, 2025, at the age of 30. He will forever be missed by his family and friends. He was a loving brother cherished by his parents Matondo Makanzu and Charly Maiwan Moaku.
Junior was the true pillar of our family, the person every one of us called when we needed to talk, to be heard, or to find guidance. He was more than a friend to many! Junior was a mentor, an advocate, and a light in the lives of so many people.
He dedicated his work and his soul to mental health advocacy, teaching us all, even strangers about the power of mental health and the importance of self-love. He helped others find strength in their darkest moments and reminded us that compassion can heal even the most wounded hearts. His voice, his passion, and his heart changed lives, and his legacy will never be forgotten.
Junior left us far too soon at just 30 years of age. But he lived every single one of those years with joy, courage, purpose, and love. Going 150 km/hr in an 80 km zone. Junior was brother, a son, a role model, an advocate just to say the least. But even if we went on, we would be cutting him short.
We are broken by his loss and our hearts ache in ways we never knew possible. The seeds he planted will continue to grow, and we will forever continue to see the fruits of his labor in the lives of the many people he touched, the conversations he started, and the hope he gave to others. May you rest in peace forever.
The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 16th, 2026, from 4pm to 5pm, at Bay Gardens Funeral Home, with visitation to follow from 5pm - 8pm. A second visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, January 17th, 2026, from 8:30am - 10:30am, with burial at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Cemetery at 11am.
Your love lives in every life you lifted, every smile you gave. Your legacy will never be forgotten, and we will always carry you with us. We may have lost an angel on earth, but we all gained an angel in heaven.
The family wishes to extend great thanks for all the love and support during this difficult time.
