Prasad, Nirankar “Nik”

Nirankar passed away suddenly on April 20, 2026 in Hamilton, Ontario Canada at the age of 83. Lovingly remembered by their partner of 55 married years, Pratibha Bhatnagar and his children Rohit Prasad, Jaya Ramwani (Sanjay Ramwani) and Granddaughter Avni Ramwani and Grandson Nayan Ramwani, his siblings - the Late Shri Rajendra Prasad Bhatnagar, Shri Mahendra Prasad Bhatnagar, the Late Shrimati Kiran Bhatnagar, and Shri Onkar Prasad Bhatnagar, his parents - the Late Shri Krishna Prasad Bhatnagar & Late Shrimati Surajvati Bhatnagar.


Nirankar was by nature a gregarious person. His goal was always to keep up relations with family and friends. Those who only had an opportunity to meet him once would instantly remember the conversations and his enthusiasm.

Nirankar was a Geologist by trade and a scientist at heart. His field work took him to nearly every corner of Canada. He was an avid traveller and immensely enjoyed talking about his adventures in far away lands.

Later in life, he became a staunch advocate of Mental Health rights and reform of in-patient hospital systems. His voluntary work overall, changed lives, most notably for the students he taught at Hamilton’s Literacy council. Nirankar’s joyful storytelling will be greatly missed by all.


We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation and thanks to the nurses, social workers and doctors at Juravinski C3 Oncology unit and St. Peter’s Hospital for helping give us more time with our beloved Nirankar. Arrangements have been entrusted to Bay Gardens Funeral Home 1010 Botanical Drive, Burlington. A Memorial will be held on April 25 from 11:30 am to 12:00 pm at Bay Gardens. A Service will take place on April 25 beginning at 12:00 pm at Bay Gardens
