In Loving Memory of Theodore Stavropoulos
May 1, 2025 – Hamilton, ON
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Theodore (Ted) Stavropoulos on May 1, 2025, in Hamilton, Ontario at the age of 81.
Born and raised in Leonidio, Arcadia Greece on October 1st, 1943, to parents Konstantinos and Marina Stavropoulos. Theodore was a loving husband to Basiliki (Bessy) Stavropoulos (nee Tsagkaris) for over 48 cherished years. He was the proud father of Marina and Penny (George) Mantzioris, and a beloved proud Pappou to Dimitri, Theo, and his fur grandbaby Zeus.
He is survived by his siblings Rev. Father Vasilios (Freeda), Steve (Georgia), Andonios, sister-in-law Maria, sister-in-law Georgia, brother-in-laws Georgios (Maria), Ilias, sisters-in-law Sofia, Dimitra (Andreas), and Litsa (Panagiotis). He is reunited with his Parents Konstantinos and Marina, In-Laws Panagiotis and Konstantina, siblings Anastasios, Georgios (Alexsandra), and Matina (Niko), brother's in-law Dimitri, and Niko. He is fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and cousins in Canada, Greece, and the USA.
Beloved Theodore was an avid soccer player in his youth, earning numerous titles and accolades in his homeland of Greece. His passion, however, extended beyond the field. After immigrating to Canada in 1970, he channeled his creativity and hard work into building a respected business as the owner and operator of Ted’s Painting and Decorating, leaving a legacy of craftsmanship and dedication in every brushstroke within the City of Hamilton and the surrounding areas.
For over 45 years, Theodore was a devoted Parish Chanter at Panagia Greek Orthodox Church, where his voice, faith, and presence enriched the community deeply. His service was not just a role—it was a testament to his unwavering devotion to his faith and heritage.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the first responders and the staff at St. Joseph’s Emergency for their compassionate care.
