It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of William “Bill” Andrew Baxter, who passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Villa in 2026, at the age of 78.

Born on March 9, 1948, in Hamilton, Ontario, Bill was the beloved son of the late Dorothy Uttridge and William Baxter. He was the loving husband of the late Sharon Baxter (née Grant-Morris) and father to Lisa Louise Baxter, Michelle Suzanne Burroughs (Baxter), and Grant William Baxter. He was also a proud grandfather to Chloe Anne Burroughs.

Bill will be lovingly remembered by his siblings, Sue Russell & Larry Russell, Laurie Tiberi and Vince Tiberi, Barbara Dalrymple and Ron Dalrymple, Lynda Baxter and John Baxter, along with many nieces, nephews and extended family, friends, former colleagues, and those who knew him throughout his life.

Bill worked as a Certified Engineering Technologist with the City of Hamilton for over 25 years, where he dedicated many years of service to his community. Bill was also a long time member of St. Margaret Mary Parish, where he served as an usher and remained involved until he was no longer able to do so. His faith, service, and quiet dedication were meaningful parts of his life.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Macassa Lodge ADP, VON ADP, and St. Joseph’s Villa for their care, compassion, and support.

Visitation will be held at Bay Gardens Funeral Home, 947 Rymal Road East, Hamilton, on Thursday, May 14th from 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Margaret Mary Parish, 20 Idlewood Ave, on Friday, May 15th at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, in Ancaster.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill’s memory to the Alzheimer Society or the Cancer Assistance Program.

Bill will be deeply missed and remembered by those whose lives he touched.
