It is with profound sadness that the family of Cameron "Cam" Brooks announces his peaceful passing on Sunday, July 6th, 2025, after a lengthy and courageously fought battle. He was the beloved son of the late Edward Corbet and Barbara Joan Brooks. Cam was the cherished husband and best friend of Linda and a devoted father to Courtney and Shannon (Logan). He also leaves behind his sisters, Donna and Joanne, his in-laws, Don and Myrtle Anderson, brother in-laws, Wayne (Connie), Gary (Charlene), Don (Lisa) and his nieces and nephews.
Born in Hamilton, Ontario, on June 22nd, 1957, Cam spent his early years in his hometown before establishing roots in Cambridge, Ontario, where he resided with his family for over 30 years.
Cam's passion for learning led him to earn a diploma in Industrial Engineering from Mohawk College and a designation as a SolidWorks Operator from Conestoga College. He dedicated 37 years of his life to Manufacturing Engineering, making significant contributions to various companies.
Family and friends were truly the cornerstone of Cam's life. His world revolved around the people he loved, and he dedicated himself wholeheartedly to their well-being and happiness. Linda was his touchstone. Their relationship was built on a foundation of deep respect, shared dreams, and an enduring love that was evident to everyone around them. His role as a father was one of his greatest sources of pride and joy, and the invaluable lessons he imparted, filled with wisdom, humour, and unconditional love, will undoubtedly live on through his cherished daughters, shaping their paths for years to come.
Cam's creativity wasn't confined to his professional life. A masterful woodworker and avid painter, he honed many of his techniques watching Bob Ross videos; his landscapes could even rival those of the master himself. Cam found solace and joy in the act of creation, often gifting his beautiful wood pieces or artwork to family and friends. He also loved to travel, particularly enjoying cruises. Cam simply loved life and embraced every adventure.
Cam was truly a people person, larger than life, relishing every opportunity to gather for dinners, celebrations, and lively games of euchre—especially when he could "skunk" the other team. His presence was a gift, and he had the unique ability to make everyone feel seen and valued. Cam's approach to life was best summed up by Ralph Waldo Emerson's words: "To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." Cam truly succeeded, touching countless lives with his kindness, his laughter and leaving a legacy of love and creativity.
We honour Cam's memory by embracing his zest for life, his commitment to family and friends, and his endless capacity for love. He exemplified the power of positivity and the beauty of a generous heart. Cam's story doesn't end here; it continues in the lives of those he inspired and in the love he shared.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated doctors and nursing staff on Ward 4C at Juravinski Hospital in Hamilton for their compassionate care." As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Juravinski Hospital Cancer Centre in Cam’s name would be appreciated by the family.
