It’s hard to summarize a person’s life in a few paragraphs. A kind, thoughtful lady left us on Saturday September 13, 2025 at the age of 78. Carol was a single parent to her daughters, Melissa Stevenson and Laura Thompson, at a time when that was still far from common. Carol took enormous pride in how her girls grew up. Carol adored her son in law Ryan Thompson (perhaps more than her own children ) and her 4 sources of delight (except when they annoyed her by calling her “old lady”, cussing or leaving the house a mess), her grandchildren Eric, Leah, Katy Thompson and Gabriel Stevenson. Carol was the youngest of seven and was happily greeted in heaven by her 3 sisters, 3 brothers and her parents—never mind the small gang of cats and 2 special dogs.
Carol worked as a civilian at Hamilton Police Services in their records department for over 25 years. When Carol happily retired, she spent time travelling, meeting the “ladies for lunch”, reading and doing her first love…laundry. We will never be able to see a clothes line without a smile and a thought of our Mom/Nana.
Our Mom took pride in being a lovely lady-and yet, her brightest smiles came from drinking her coffee out of a mug adorned with a cuss word.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Margaret’s Place Hospice who gave our Mom a dignified and gentle transition. Carol has requested that there is no viewing or funeral, however, a celebration of life will take place at a later date.
“Remember me with smiles and laughter, for that is how I will remember you all. If you can only remember me with tears, then don’t remember me at all”.
