With profound sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of a remarkable woman whose life was defined by strength, resilience, and unconditional love. Ida Mastroianni, at the age of 87, passed away peacefully on December 2nd, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Beloved wife of the late Carmen Mastroianni, Ida is survived by her adoring daughter: Teresa and her husband Gino Conciatori and son Alfonso Mastroianni. Cherished and loved Nonna of Italo (Domenica), Kristin (William) and Carlo. Predeceased by her parents Michele and Ortenza Mastroianni and in-laws Alfonso and Teresa Mastroianni. Dear sister of Rina (the late Francesco) Minardi, Alda (Giacomo) Cristiano, Luigina (the late Tony) Campolo and Rita (Andrea) Sorrentino. Dear sister-in-law of Fillipina (the late Mario) Calabrese, the late Anna (the late Giuseppe) Desimone, the late Maria (Silvio) Veltri, Luisa (the late Pasquale) Mastroianni, Settimia (the late Steve) Corcione. She will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in Canada, Italy and Australia.
Ida was born in Parenti, Cosenza, Italy in 1938. Ida left her small town to join her husband, Carmine, to seek prosperity in Canada. Ida built a wonderful life here, where she worked at Cambridge Clothes and was known for her exceptional talent at sewing. A truly creative individual, she would often meticulously craft outfits for her daughter Teresa after seeing just one picture, demonstrating her skill and dedication. She also knitted and crocheted.
Ida always put family first, especially when it came to her three grandchildren. She raised her family with wonderful traditions and strong family values. A passionate soul, Ida truly loved music and dancing, bringing joy and rhythm to every family gathering. She loved entertaining and hosting people in her home, ensuring everyone felt welcome and loved. She had a sense of humor and always had a witty remark that was clever and well timed.
Ida was a hard worker who never shied away from doing what needed to be done, which included painting rooms, to even being a general laborer during the construction of her home. For Ida, nothing was too big a task.
The loss of our dear mother will leave a huge void in our family, but the impact of her love and strength will remain in our hearts. Her legacy lives in the lives she shaped, the traditions she built, the love she gave so freely, and the beautiful memory of her dancing spirit.
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful staff at Ridgeview Longterm care for their care and for providing our mother with comfort during her final days.
