Ivett Mavis Hill, known affectionately as Mavis, passed away peacefully at home at the age of 92 after a brief illness. Born in Flamstead Gardens, St. James, Jamaica, she was the daughter of the late Isaac and Katherine Hill.

Mavis was the unwavering cornerstone of our family. She often declared that she lived with two purposes: to serve Jesus and to cook for her family. From sunup to sundown, she worked tirelessly to bless her family, support her friends, and serve the Lord. She was not just a mother and grandmother, but a guiding light whose faith and devotion were great examples to follow.

She fondly discussed and shared precious memories of her three children who passed before her: Deloris, David, and Lorna, as well as her daughter-in-law, Mauleen.

Her legacy of love lives on through her seven surviving children: Washington (Karen), Errol, Mutti (Dorothy), Paris (Elaine), Carol, Barbara, and Frederick (Tanya). She will forever be loved by her 24 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren who were her pride and joy. Mavis will also be missed by her church family at Richmond Hill Pentecostal Church, and friends - too many to count. Everywhere Mavis went, she made a friend; she leaves the world much brighter than she found it.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM and 7:00 - 9:00 PM and Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 9:00 AM at Bay Gardens Funeral Home - Hamilton: 947 Rymal RD E, Hamilton ON L8W 3M2.

We will have a Celebration of Life Service on Saturday February 7, 2026 starting sharply at 10:00 AM at Bay Gardens Funeral Home – Hamilton. Interment will follow at Burlington Memorial Gardens.

We wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to the palliative care teams at Bayshore Homecare and Stedman Community Hospice. We are deeply grateful for the loving and personalized treatment Mavis received; your compassion provided her with laughter, comfort, and dignity during her final days.
