In Celebration of

James Stuart Peters

May 31, 1936 - November 21, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of James Stuart Peters (Jim), on November 21, 2025, in his 90th year. A sincere thank you to the staff of St. Joseph’s Hospital 5th Floor Medical and 6th Floor Palliative Care for their constant, kind care of Jim and our family.

Born on May 31, 1936, to Agnes and Ben Peters, Jim was a devoted son, husband, dad, papa and great-papa whose kindness, humour and family pride enriched the lives of all who knew him. In 1965, he married Janis Wade sharing 60 years of enriched family life.

Jim was a proud father to Kelly (Chuck Cooper), Keri Peters, Scott Peters (Juanita). The family grew to include grandchildren Rachel (Alex Johnson), Jamie Peters (Peter), Sarah Peters, Josh Peters, Andi Cooper, Matthew Peters, Charlie Cooper,Isaiah Peters and Sam Peters. The family then welcomed great-grandchildren Liam, Clarke, Gabriel, Simon Johnson and Josiah and Isabella Peters. He was so very proud and supportive of their goals and achievements.

Jim’s working life started at the age of 13 helping his dad at Dare Candies while at the same time discovering the life-long challenge and enjoyment of golf. He joined the Stelco Payroll department after Central High and worked his way through various departments until retiring. Even then he continued working part time at sales positions - golf is expensive! There were many games enjoyed with his sons and friends.

He loved being on and around the water (not necessarily in it!). Music was a life-long passion, thus the nickname “Piano Jim” and along with a number of years playing the bass Drum with the Hamilton Firefighters’ Drum

Corps. He volunteered many years at Beverley Golf Club as a Starter.

After the drum got too heavy and life slowed down Jim took to building wooden models, jigsaw puzzles and a continued loyalty to armchair

TV sports, politics, Coke and Doritos. He will be missed by his cousins Sharon and Rob Janzen and George Barker, his golf and lunch buddy and Wayne Peters, his drumming and mall-walking partner.

Jim is remembered for his gentle nature, sense of humour and his deep love and pride of family.

Forever missed and lovingly remembered.

Celebration of Life, Tuesday, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Edelweiss Clubhouse in St. Elizabeth Village at Garth and Rymal. Enter off Garth south of Rymal Road and follow signage to Gate B.
