It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of John Hoefkens after a courageous battle of cancer on December 17th, 2025, at the age of 64 with his loving family by his side.

John was predeceased by his father and mother, Martin and Jean Hoefkens and the late Maurizio Spalanca.John is lovingly remembered by his wife, Grace Hoefkens (nee Spalanca), his sister, Carole Hoefkens, his children Andrew, Nicole and Jessica Hoefkens and his mother-in-law, Angela. John will also be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his in-laws, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

John spent his life serving others as a police officer starting in England and ending in Bermuda before coming to spend the rest of his life in Canada. He retired as a director at WSIB to pursue his love for golf, fishing, and family vacations.

Visitation will be held at Bay Gardens Funeral Home, 947 Rymal Road East, on Monday, December 22nd, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. A visitation will be held at Bay Gardens Funeral Home, on Tuesday, December 23rd, from 12 p.m. with a funeral to follow at 1 p.m.

A celebration of John's life will take place in the near future.
