In Celebration of

Kathryn Elizabeth "Kitty" Howarth (nee Kane)

September 24, 1932 - January 3, 2026

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Kathryn (Kitty) Howarth on January 3rd, 2026 at Juravinski Hospital (Hamilton) age 93. Born on September 24, 1932 in Baltimore, Maryland she was a devoted mother of David (Diane) and Mary (Chris) and grandmother of Eric, Lauren, William, Sarah and Daniel. She will be sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews both in Canada and the United States.

Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, Kitty was an avid baseball fan who spent her summers splitting time between watching the Orioles play ball and weekend getaways to the beach at Ocean City. Kitty met Jack, a Canadian on assignment for Ford Motor Company and decided he was the one. The two of them moved to Canada in the early 1960’s to start a family, where Jack’s professional career took them to Toronto, Winnipeg and then finally to Burlington. In between there were many memorable travels to Europe and the Caribbean.

Known for her spirited personality, Kitty found joy pursuing many hobbies including sewing, quilting, gardening, baking, and reading. However, as many people know, her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren whether it was babysitting them in their early years or attending their school, sports and religious activities as they got older.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nursing and personal support staff for their tremendous care at Summit Heights Retirement Home. Special thank you to Christena, Anne and Harpreet for their outstanding compassion and personal care.

A private family service will be held to honor Kitty’s life. The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers during this time but welcomes donations to the Alzheimer’s Society in her name.
