Passed away peacefully at home on July 10th, 2024 in the loving arms of his mother and father at the age of 10 years old. Meric was the cherished son of David and Lisa Dreher, born on November 18, 2013 in Toronto, Ontario but lived his life in his hometown of Milton, Ontario. Lovingly remembered by his maternal grandmother Rose Marie Walsh and paternal grandfather Bill Dreher, Meric leaves behind a large family of aunts, cousins and friends who have become family throughout his short journey in life. Predeceased by his maternal grandfather Jack Walsh and paternal grandmother Peggy Dreher, and many extended family members including his Aunt Emma Donofrio, "Biggie" who is waiting for him to play basketball again in their eternal life together.
Known for his infectious but mischievous smile and most heartwarming laugh, Meric was the epitome of love and positivity. His incredibly happy and fun personality carried him through his hard days and always managed to make those around him see the good in life. Meric's love for basketball, trains and hot wheels could not be denied; there was not a basketball court he could not find and not a basketball he didn't want to "shoot!". Although short, the impact his life will have on those that knew him will live on forever. Meric will be fondly remembered by his entire tiger family at Tiger Jeet Singh Public School where he completed the 5th grade before his eternal rest.
David and Lisa would like to thank McMaster Children's Hospital, especially Dr. Lysecki, Cindy, Jen and Emily and the entire QoLA Care team, as well as the Starlight Children's Foundation, the Batten Community and all of the incredible nurses that cared for Meric in their home. Together these teams carried the family through their journey and made memories to last forever in their hearts. Free from Batten Disease, Meric will now run free.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Bay Gardens Funeral Home (1010 Botanical Drive, Burlington). A Visitation will be held on Wednesday July 17th from 2-4 and 6-8 at Bay Gardens. A Service will take place on Thursday July 18th beginning at 4:30 pm at Forestview Church Without Walls (3175 Dundas St W. Oakville). Interment will take place at a later date with immediate family.
