Michel Mensah, beloved husband of Theresa Mensah, and cherished father of Ameley, Akua, Bogaah, Afie, and Esie, and grandfather of Ammayaa, passed away peacefully.

Born and raised in Togo, Michel lived a life defined by courage, compassion, and service. His journey took him from Togo to Ghana, Ivory Coast, France, and Germany before immigrating to Canada in 1970, where he built a beautiful life with Theresa.

A respected elder of the Ewe and Ghanaian communities, Michel was deeply involved in community life through the Ewe Canadian Culture Organization of Ontario and the Ghana Association of Hamilton. He dedicated his time to promoting unity, cultural pride, and belonging.

Professionally known as Mitch, he worked for over 30 years as a mechanic with Laidlaw and Waste Management, admired for his skill, integrity, and tireless dedication. His hands built and repaired, but his true gift was his heart — one that gave endlessly to his family, friends, and community.

Michel’s warmth, laughter, and unwavering strength will be deeply missed, yet his legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, November 20th, from 5-8 pm, and Friday, November 21st, from 9:30-11am at Bay Gardens Funeral Home, 947 Rymal Rd E, Hamilton. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, November 21st, 2025 at 12pm at St. Catherine of Siena Parish, 620 Rymal Rd E, Hamilton. Burial to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 700 Chapel Hill Rd, Stoney Creek.
