It is with saddened hearts that we announce the loss of our beloved Nancy, cherished mother of Anthony and Nicholas.
Nancy passed away peacefully and loved at Juravinski Hospital after a difficult illness where she showed resilience and strength. A devoted mother, loving sister to Brad, and a treasured friend to many, Nancy touched countless lives with her warmth, compassion, and creative spirit.
Nancy was predeceased by her parents Brian (1992) and Pearl (2017), brothers David (2009) and Michael (2009), and husband Mark Loyer (2022).
Nancy was a dedicated and passionate music teacher with the HWDSB with a career spanning from the early 1990’s to her retirement this past June. She spent her career teaching in the Hamilton core, sparking a love of music in students at Tweedsmuir, Sanford, and Cathy Wever Schools. Nancy had a gift for inspiring her students and built an exceptional music program, even winning a prestigious National Music Award. She directed school musicals, led concert bands, choir and provided opportunities for countless students to shine at talent shows and through the AIFEC program. During lunch breaks, the music room was full of students, enjoying a safe community under her guidance. Nancy‘s impact extended far beyond the walls of her classroom as she nurtured confidence, joy, and a love of music in every student she taught.
Beyond the classroom, Nancy‘s passion for the arts extended to the theatre. She began her career with Burlington Student Theatre in 1988. She accompanied over 50 performances in her time until 1999, when she left to raise her family. Nancy returned in 2010 as Musical Director until stepping down in 2012. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by the lifelong friends she made during this time.
She will be greatly missed by her many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and students.
Nancy leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and artistic brilliance that will live on in all who knew her.
