With deep love and sadness, the family of Nella Nardi announces her passing on September 20th, 2025, at the age of 96. Born in the town of Villanova (Pordenone), Italy, Nella married Luciano, whom she spent 56 wonderful years with. Together they immigrated to Canada in 1955 through Ellis Island, arriving in Hamilton by train.

Nella spent many years working at the candy factory, often arriving home with sweets tucked into her blue apron. As a Hamilton Tiger-Cats fan, she attended the 1972 Grey Cup, sealing a lifetime of black-and-gold loyalty. At family gatherings she was a legendary mini-stick star, and while playing bocce and cards she was known for her “creative interpretation” of the rules.

Warm, loving, and hilariously funny, Nella made every room brighter and every guest feel like family while retelling her many stories. Her greatest joy came from three-hour lunches, filled with laughter and surrounded by family in the kitchen, where she somehow effortlessly fed everyone.

She was a beloved mother to Rob (Kelly), Mauro (Lisa), and Monica (Pat).
A cherished Nonna to Michael (Allison), Andrea (Mike), Paul (Zoe), Alex (Giuliana), Erica (Anthony) and Chris. A loving Bisnonna to Emerson, William, Jude, Scarlett and Miller. Nella will also be fondly remembered by her extended family in Canada and Italy.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Ridgeview Nursing Home for their compassionate care.

Visitation at Bay Gardens Funeral Home - "William J. Markey Chapel", 947 Rymal Road East, HAMILTON (905.574.0405) on Thursday, September 25th from 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm. The Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, September 26th at 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, 63 Highway 20 East, Stoney Creek, ON. Burial to follow at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Cemetery, Stoney Creek.
