With deep love and gratitude, we share the passing of our beloved mother, Patricia. Now in the hands of God and reunited with the love of her life, her husband John (1925–2016), Patricia leaves behind a legacy of faith, strength, and love.
Cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she will be forever missed by her children Barbara, Raymond (Suzanne McMullen), Adrian (Judy McMullen), Geraldine (Trent Jarvis), and Lydia (Nelson Lemus). Her grandchildren—Owen, Alannah (Jordan) and great-granddaughter Cecelia, Siobhan, Ryan (Shelby), and Daniel (Andreea)—were blessed by her unwavering love, wisdom, and humour.
Never one to shy away from conversations about the world around her, Patricia’s reflections often invited others to consider life from a broader perspective. With her gift for storytelling and her quick wit, she captivated family, friends, and community. She loved the arts, writing several plays that were performed at the Pearl Company and at one of Hamilton’s first Fringe Festivals. In her youth she was an accomplished singer, winning medals as a child and later lending her voice to choirs and gatherings throughout her life. She was a longtime member of the Irish Canadian Club Women’s Choir, where she shared her love of music and community.
A proud Irish immigrant, Patricia also deeply loved her home and life in Canada. She taught her children to be proud Canadians, while still embracing her Irish heritage. Her cultural pride and community spirit were recognized when she was named Irish Person of the Year by Hamilton’s Irish Canadian Club. Patricia was also an avid volunteer, giving her time generously throughout her life in service to others.
Her strength of will, devotion to God, and deep love for family made her a true pillar in both community and home. As she often reminded us: “Always love each other.”
