With profound sadness and heartbreak, we announce the passing of Rick Palmieri in his 63rd year. Peacefully and surrounded by his beloved family, Rick passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. Rick is survived by Maria, his loving and devoted wife of 36 beautiful years, his daughter Stephanie Thompson (Shawn), precious grandson Nico, his son John (fiancée Alison Lambert), his mother Maria and sister Piera Palmieri. He is now reunited in Heaven with his father, Libero (2014). Beloved son-in-law of Francesco and Teresa Fazzari, and cherished brother-in-law of Antonietta and Frank Vecchioni, Sebastiano and Luana Fazzari, and Pasquale and Patrizia Fazzari. He will also be lovingly remembered by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
Rick was a dedicated and loyal employee at Greif for over 37 years and proudly served as Vice President of the Sheet Metal Workers, SMART Local 540. His strong work ethic and leadership left a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of working alongside him.
Above all, Rick put his family first. He was a dependable presence, always ready with a helping hand or words of encouragement. His kindness, strength, and unwavering love made him a pillar in the lives of those closest to him. Rick was known for his dry sense of humour, often delivering witty one-liners that left everyone smiling.
At home, Rick found comfort in the quiet companionship of his beloved cats, Simba and Ruby, who were always by his side and held a special place in his heart.
Rick had a deep appreciation for classic cars and took great pride in his cherished 1985 Camaro IROC-Z28. Cruising in his Camaro brought him joy and a sense of freedom that reflected his bold, spirited personality. A lifelong New York Rangers fan, Rick never missed a chance to cheer on his team-win or lose, he wore his blue proudly. He was also a passionate WWE wrestling enthusiast, eagerly following storylines, cheering for his favorite wrestlers. Rick loved golf, enjoying both the game and the company. And when it came to dessert, nothing topped a slice of classic apple pie-his absolute favorite.
Rick was a caring, loyal, and loving soul who touched many lives and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A special thanks to his care team at Juravinski Hospital, and all the doctors and nurses at St. Peter’s Hospital, especially Dr. Jesse Solomon, who made his last moments peaceful.
