A centennial baby born at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Toronto Steve spent his childhood in the Park Royal neighbourhood in Mississauga where kids played all day until the street lights came on. He loved to bike, fish, play street hockey, ice hockey and lacrosse. He was an excellent student and always had a quest for knowledge. In his teen and young adult years, he formed loyal friendships with several key people who became lifelong friends (you know who you are). One of those friendships led Steve to Margaret and they became fast and loyal friends, falling into love and marrying May 24/2002. Moving to Hamilton, they were delighted to have two sons Samuel and Jack, who are our pride and joy. Steve was an excellent father spending countless hours loving, nurturing, protecting, caring and teaching them multiple things about life and love. He loved sports and was a natural athlete and this translated down to Sam and Jack. Together as a family we’ve spent countless happy hours at arenas cheering Sam and Jack on. We did life together period. Family is Forever.
Steve had a wonderful father Ralph Ernest Forbes who left this world too soon in 2003. His wonderful mother, Jeannine Guilmette loved Steve and eventually Margaret, Sam and Jack unconditionally, like her own, passing away in 2018. Although Steve did not have full blood siblings, he found love in Diane, Nicole, Gerald, Denis, and Ronald and in Jacquie and Donna and their families. Steve eventually connected with his half brother Wayne in 2002, forming a fast bond he treasured visits with Wayne & Nancy, Dwayne, Christina and family until Wayne’s passing in 2023. Steve was especially close to his Uncle Ron & Aunt Grace and has remained close to his cousins Tom (Joan), Jim (Cindy), and Bruce (Leanne) and their families.
One of Steve’s greatest joys was being a part of Margaret’s big family. He was accepted as a son by Sam & Edith denHoed and as a brother by Catherine (Rick), Linda (Rob), Mark (Amy) and John (Debbie). He will be so missed by his nieces and nephews, Victoria, Alex, Nicklaus, Madison, Carter, William, Emma, Zoey, Courtney, Kara, and Cameron and all the extended family members.
Steve’s faith in God was strong and the compass by which his life ran. He had many friends and to know Steve was to love him. He will be missed dearly by Margaret, Sam and Jack and many many others. Rest in Peace Steve, until we meet again…
