In Celebration of

Stewart Reid Lavery

December 6, 1949 - November 19, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Stewart, on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, surrounded by his family.

Born in Glasgow, Scotland, he immigrated to Canada in 1952.

Stewart was the beloved son of the late Joseph Patrick Lavery and Helen Lavery (Reid), and cherished brother of John (Sanne) and Brian (Denise). He was a proud uncle to Michael (Melanie) and Rebecca, and a devoted great-uncle to Finley and Bailey.

Stewart served as a dedicated Correctional Officer for 30 years, later continuing his commitment to public safety as Head of Security for the Carmen’s Group during his retirement.

He was a lifelong supporter of the Toronto Maple Leafs and had a passionate interest in military history.

In accordance with Stewart’s wishes, cremation has taken place. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of St. Peter’s Hospital for their exceptional and compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in Stewart’s memory.
