With heavy hearts and much gratitude for many great memories, we share the passing of William (Bill) Morgan, who left us on August 8 at the age of 83. After a healthy and active life, Bill had a short and courageous battle with cancer, but throughout it, he continued to do what he loved. He passed away on the golf course minutes after sinking a 25-foot putt.
He was a loving husband and built a beautiful life together with his wife of 61 years, Marylee (Healy). Always the coolest and sweetest father to Tracey Hanson and Lori Morgan. Best father-in-law and faithful friend to Mark Hanson and Brian Martel. Proudest grandpa to his special boy Joshua Hanson (Chantel Rizzo), and lucky bonus grandpa to Mallory Martel and Sydney Saltarelli (Jason), and GG Bill to Miles.
Bill was a proud Hamiltonian. Always grateful to his parents, the late Ernest and Kathleen Morgan. Much-loved brother to Barbara Addison (Peter), Irene Zdriluk (late Gary), Doreen McMahon (late Roy) and Lois Deck (Dan). Brother-in-law, uncle, neighbour and friend to many, whose company he greatly enjoyed.
Bill had a great sense of humour, loved cars, watches, trips to the casino, a good, solid action movie or detective series, and a great meal (Bronzies was his favourite!). But he loved nothing more than spending time with his family and telling his many stories. He was always up for a party and wasn’t afraid to belt out a Johnny Cash song on the karaoke machine. His special dance with his girls was a highlight at every family wedding.
He was proud to be an electrician and a loyal member of the IBEW Local 105. He still made the weekly call to the union line to hear the updates. He had so many fond memories of his work and colleagues that he shared with family and friends over the years. He spent many years as an estimator and foreman specializing in hospitals. During recent visits to Juravinski Cancer Centre, he shared detailed stories (and we mean detailed!) about the work he did there. He loved his work.
Bill’s family invites you to join them in remembering and honouring a life well-lived. A gathering will take place on Thursday, August 14, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Bay Gardens Funeral Home, 947 Rymal Road East.
In Lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Bill’s name to the Eva Rothwell Centre (evarothwell.ca/donate) or the Hamilton/Burlington SPCA.
